I Hate You...I Think Read online

"Aww, no love for your other brother?" Jet complained. Kimmy hugged him too then punched him in the arm again.

"So are we just going to sit here beating up on each other or go swimming?" Alex asked.

"I think we should go swimming," Jake offered.

"How about diving off the ledge?" Alex grinned.

  Eien agreed.

  "I'm hungry," Logan commented.

"You’re always hungry," Jake pointed out.

"Well, we're going to jump," Alex said standing; Eien got up to and started walking down the rocks back toward the beach so they could get up on the cliff. As they walked away I could see they both had a similar tattoo on their back, of a bat. I wonder if all the guys have the same tattoo?

I'm going swimming. Anyone else want to come?" Jake muttered getting up.

  "Yeah," Kimmy and Jet said.

"You want to come, Ever?" Kimmy asked.

I shook my head. "The water's too cold."

"Okay, well we'll be back then," she said leaving. Tyler followed them. I was left with Logan and Oliver.

"I'm going to go find something to eat," Logan said.

"Wait," Oliver said standing. He reached in his pocket and pulled out some money.

"Why don't you so to the store and get some marsh mellows and stuff and we'll have a bonfire here on the beach in a little bit when the sun goes down."

"Sweet," Logan replied taking the money and jumping off the rock and bolting down the beach. It was just me and Oliver now. I should have gone with Kimmy, but I didn't want to get in the cold water. He sat down next to me looking at me intently.

"So, why are you trying to avoid me?" Oliver asked in his smooth sexy voice. Wow, did I just think sexy? I mentally slapped myself.

"You were being an ass last night," I told him lying back down on my towel and put my sun glasses back on. With my glasses on I knew he couldn't see my eyes so I let them travel over his body. He was leaning on one arm his body half turned toward me.

"Like what you see?" He asked with that smirk I hate so much.

"What?" I asked bewildered staring up at him. He couldn't have possibly seen I was checking him out. He gave me an all knowing smirk.

"What's with the tattoos you all have?" I asked making him turn around so I could look at it. It was a bat that looked like it was flying. Its wings were up but there were holes all in them and it looked all evil and stuff.

  "It's our symbol," Oliver grinned.

  "Your symbol?"

"You know, gang symbol," he said talking in a baby voice, like I was stupid.

I smacked him in the arm. He snatched it and pressed it to the rock hovering over me. My breath caught in my throat.

"So...umm...what is your name? Like gang name?" I asked awkwardly. The close proximity making me nervous.

"Shadow stalkers, it's kind of fitting. Bat's stalk the night looking for their pray," Oliver gave me a seductive grin. I stared up at him.

"You look very beautiful today," he commented in his silky voice. His hair fell over his eyes and I want to reach up and move it.

"And, how many girls do you tell that to," I scoffed trying to get him to let go of my arm so I could get as far away from him as possible.

"Quite a few," he told me bluntly.

  I scowled at him.

"But, you’re the only one I have told that I meant," he said.

  I laughed. "Yeah, sure."

"Why are you here anyways?" I asked annoyed.

"Well, you see I talked to you on the phone and-"

  "Don't be a smart ass," I groaned.

"You think my ass is smart?" He asked amused.

"Oh shut up, Oliver. I meant why do you even care where I am? Why were you so bossy on the phone?"

  He shrugged.

"Of all the girls in the world why do you have to pick on me? There are other girls you can pick on and they would like it. Like that chick in the coffee shop or that girl in your class," I told him my patience running thin.

"Trust me, I don't enjoy how they flirt with me," Oliver sighed pushing his hair out of his face.

"Most guys like that, though," I pressed.

"Yeah, well I don't, Everlyn. I'm not like most guys," Oliver told me his eyes staring directly into mine a smirk on his face. I don't know why my stomach fluttered when he said my name.

"Yeah, you’re my hot professor, who is bi-polar and likes to fist fight people. With a psychopath from a rival gang who wants to beat your face in and you won't let me know why you decided to drag me into your problems. Oh and you’re an evil little monster. Yeah, your right not normal at all."

"I knew he liked me," Oliver purred leaning closer that smirk permanently glued to his face.

"When did I say that?" I demanded.

  "You said I'm hot."

I shook my head. "But, that has nothing to do with me liking you."

"So you don't like me?" He asked sounding hurt.

"No, I don't. You’re moody and bi-polar, and I have only known you for a few days. How could I possibly like you?"

"I never said you had to like me like that," he grinned his eyes lighting up.

I opened my mouth to tell him off, but I couldn't think of anything to say.

"I don't like you at all Mr. Wolfe," I scowled. He smiled softly raising his hand to my face his fingers gently brushing my hair from my forehead, he removed my sun glasses. I held my breath as he leaned closer his nose almost touching mine. His lips were inches from mine. I could feel his warm breath tickle my lips. They grazed just briefly.

"It's because your amusing, Ever, and beautiful. That's why I like you."

With that, He stood up and moved away from me down the rocks toward the beach and up to the cliff. I sat up to watch him go. I felt giddy my face burning. He said I was beautiful. I touched my lips gently. Why is it so hard to stay mad at him?

  Chapter Five

The sun had set some hours ago and we were all gathered around the fire. Kimmy sat in the beach chair next to me. Behind me the waves splashed against the shore. Logan was roasting marsh mellows. Lucky for me Oliver was sitting across from me and not next to me. Jake was sitting on my other side.

"So how do you two like college?" Jake asked then stuffed a marsh mellow in his mouth.

  Kimmy and I both shrugged.

"I have a lot of classes and hardly any free time," she said.

"Well, that's because you enrolled in every class possible," I laughed.

She grinned. "Well, if the governments paying for it might as well, eh?"

"So you got scholarships?" Tyler asked her.

  "Yeah," she nodded.

"Mom and dad will be proud," he frowned.

Kimmy frowned as well. "Not so much, father wants me to be a doctor, but I'm not going for that."

Jet and Tyler looked at her surprised. "What are you going for then?" Jet asked curiously.

  "Psychology."

"But, you know they will not be happy at all," Tyler told her.

  "I know," she nodded.

"What about you, Ever? What do you want to major in?" Jake asked.

  I shrugged. "I don't know. I haven't decided yet."

"Well, you’re still a freshmen so you have plenty of time to figure it out. You got to get through general studies anyhow."

Logan handed me a marsh mellow, I thanked him but, it was really hot so I tossed it back and forth in my hands till it cooled down.

"So you told Kimmy everything didn't you?" Oliver asked. I froze. I exchanged a look with Kimmy.

"I..." I gulped. Everyone was starting at me intently.

"She did, but it was because I wouldn't leave her alone about it. After the night at the club, I wanted to know where she went. I kind of black mailed her into telling me," Kimmy lied. She smirked at me. Why did she have to throw black mail in there? I looked at Oliver expecting him to be mad.

He shrugged. "I'm sure she would have found out from Jet and Tyler anyways."

  "So you’re not upset
?" I asked cautiously.

Oliver smirked at me and shook his head. "I'm going to have to keep an eye on you, though. You get black mailed pretty easily; you must have a lot of skeletons in the closet."

I groaned and glared at Kimmy. She grinned sheepishly then snatched my marsh mellow out of my hand.

"Hey!" I cried diving for it before she ate it, but it was too late. She snickered with the marsh mellow in her mouth. I poked her in her side and crossed my arms and legs pouting.

The guys laughed at our little encounter and Logan handed me another marsh mellow. I held it away from Kimmy glaring at her I ate it then stuck my tongue out at her.

"You two act like bickering sisters," Jake laughed.

"We are," Kimmy and I said at the same time, then grinned at each other.

"As good as anyways," Kimmy shrugged. Jet suddenly jumped up and over on to my chair next to me. It frightened me and I went to jump off but he caught me.

"Welcome to the family then, Ever," he said putting me in a head lock and mussing up my hair.

"Arg! Jet, get off me," I protested trying to get out of his arms. Chuckling, he let me go and jumped up going back to his own chair. Grumbling, I pulled my hair out of a pony tail and let it fall on my shoulders running my fingers through it I tried to get the tangles out. I caught Oliver watching me do this. I stopped and stared at him, he looked away. I looked at Logan and asked for a marsh mellow. He handed me one that hadn't been heated yet and I chucked it at Oliver's head. It bounced off his ear into his lap. The circle erupted into laughter. Oliver looked up raising his eye brow at me.

"This is boring?" Eien scowled at us. I turned to him. He was so unhappy. I reached behind Jake over to Eien. He turned to look at me and I flicked him between the eyes.

"What the hell?" He growled, glaring at me.

"Stop being grumpy," I told him. Eien just continued to glare at me.

"That's enough, Eien," Oliver warned. Eien turned away from me scowling at the fire. I felt embarrassed and upset. Why the hell is Eien so crabby and rude?

"I don't know about you guys but it's getting late, and I have school in the morning," Kimmy announced. I nodded, hopefully the guys would give us a ride we had walked here from the college and it was a very long walk.

"Well, I'll take you both home," Oliver said standing. The others followed simultaneously. After putting out the fire and gathering our stuff up, we headed up the beach to the parking lot.

"How are we all going to fit?" Logan asked. "There is only Oliver's car and Jet's little two seater with nine of us."

"Well, we could always put you in the trunk," Jake laughed. Logan punched him in the arm.

"The girls are going to have to lie across people’s laps," Alex grinned.

"So this is how it's going to work, Jet, Tyler, are riding with Kimmy. The rest in mine," Oliver said.

"I call front," Logan yelled running to the passenger side door and jumping. I glared after him. That meant I was going to have to lie in Alex, Jake and...Eien's lap.

After I bid Kimmy, Jet, and Tyler good night, I headed for Oliver's car. It was Alex, Eien in the middle and Jake. Alex helped me in and Jake grabbed my arms pulling me in across their laps.

"This isn't awkward at all," I muttered sarcastically.

Jake laughed. "Well, I'm enjoying it."

"I bet you are," I scowled. Jake took a towel and placed it under my head for support.

"Am I heavy?" I asked Eien as Oliver started the car and pulled out of the parking lot.

"No," he told me. I was surprised I half expected him to say something rude but he didn't. Eien shifted uncomfortably.

  "Are you uncomfortable?"

"Pshh...he shouldn't be. He has a half-naked girl in his lap," Jake laughed. I reached up and smacked Jake in the chest.

  "Ever?" Oliver asked.

  "Yeah?"

"We have been talking. I wanted to know if you wanted to come to the tournament," Oliver asked tensely.

"No," I told him immediately. Alex, Jake and Eien looked down at me.

"I don't want to see you guys get punched. I told you this yesterday, and I don't want to see that freak, Jason," I explained.

"Come on, Ever. It would be nice to have you there for support, and trust me, Jason isn't going to get within twenty feet of you," Jake told me. I was shaking my head before he finished.

"At least come to one, then you can decide if you want to come again or not," Logan told me turning around in his seat.

  "I..."

"Please," Logan and Jake begged at the same time.

  I groaned. "Fine."

Jake did a fist pump and high fived Logan.

"You two are weird," I commented. The car pulled to a stop.

"We're here," Oliver announced. Alex opened his door and slide out from under me then helped pull me out.

"What apartment do you live in?" Jake called. I poked my head back in the car after Alex sat back down.

  "Why?"

  "Future reference," Jake shrugged.

"Eight," I told him with a suspicious look.

  "K, night, Ever," Jake grinned.

"Night guys," I told them shutting the door. Oliver gave me a nod before they pulled out of the parking lot.

I woke to knocking on my front door, pulling out my phone I checked the time. It was an hour and a half till I was supposed to wake up. Pulling myself up off the bed, I shuffled into the living room and opened the door. My eyes shot wide open. Oliver stood in the doorway with a smirk on his face and two cups of coffee in his hands. He pushed one cup into my hands and walked past me into my apartment.

"Sure, Oliver, come right in," I scowled after him. Shutting the door I followed him into my tiny living room. He stood for a moment silently looking around before finally speaking.

"Nice place," he commented going to my kitchen. I followed him frowning.

"Why are you here?" I asked as he finally turned to face me. He didn't speak, which was irritating me to no end, but instead he took his time surveying my shorts and tank top before answering.

"I'm taking you to breakfast. Get dressed," he told me casually drinking his coffee and leaning against my counter top. I stared at him a moment baffled. My bi-polar hot English teacher, who I sometimes hate with a passion sometimes, is standing in my kitchen wanting to take me to eat breakfast.

He smirked, "As much as I enjoy standing here having you check me out we should be going. So closed your mouth and go get dressed."

I snapped my mouth shut, glaring at him, I turned on my heels and marched to my room shutting and locking the door behind me. Arrogant jerk. I was so not checking him out.

After digging in my closet for what seemed like forever, I pulled out a blue and black checkered skirt and a cute blue shirt. After finishing with my make-up I looked myself over in the mirror. I wonder if he'll like it? I froze. Did I really just think that? Slapping myself in the head I slipped on some black flats and stepped out of my bedroom.

Oliver was now sitting on my couch flipping through channels. He stopped looking up at me as I entered the living room. His eyes lingering on my legs. I blushed feeling butterflies in my stomach.

Without speaking he stood and walked to the front door. He didn't even wait for me. I quickly grabbed my cell and bag and hurried after him. When I caught up to him outside he was standing by the passenger door holding it open for me. I gave him a look when I got in the car. What is up with him today? He is acting weird and quiet...but most of all nice. In a weird way, but nice nevertheless. He walked around to the driver side and got in. Hastily, I snapped my seat belt cross me and he started the car and threw it in reverse. He didn't even bother with his seat belt.

You should put on your seat belt!" I told him, clinging to the door as he took a sharp turn out of the parking lot.

He chuckled, "What's wrong? Are you worried we might wreck?"

"That and you'll get pulled over," I frowned. He drove like a maniac. I hadn't paid attention the last two times
I had been in here, maybe this was the first time he decided to drive like a psychopath.

"I'm not worried about getting pulled over in this part of town," he laughed.

"Why not?" I asked curiously. He took his eyes off the road to look at me.

"We control this part of town," he began. "The guys that you see that are around all the time are only my immediate gang. We have other followers. We control the whole west side of town. All the way from the college to the beach."

"So you’re like there "leader" or something?"

  He grinned. "Something like that."

I knew it was exactly that, but there was more than the six I seen? How did this stuff work? Actually...I really shouldn't even ask that. I shouldn't want to know.

"Why are you telling me this? Aren't you worried?" I asked unsure. Why would he tell a complete stranger that could be bad?

"I trust you. For one, if you told anyone and we got in trouble Jet and Tyler would go to jail. Do you think that Kimmy would be very happy with you if that happened?" He smirked looking at me. His eyes had a mischievous glow to them. Pursing my lips and scowled at him. He was right I wouldn't do that to Jet and Tyler.

"And, two I just trust you," he added with a smug grin. I looked him shocked. How could he trust me? He didn't know me?

Oliver pulled into a star bucks that was just around the corner from the college.

"So do you like never go out of your territory then?" I asked as we got out of the car.

Oliver gave me a look. "Don't be stupid, Of course we do, but-"

"Did you just call me stupid," I asked shocked, I stared at him a moment. I didn't know whether to drop kick him or walk away. How dare he call me stupid!

"Don't interrupt me either," he told me taking my arm and pushing me toward the front door, that stupid smirk on his face.

"I'm not going with you," I scowled trying to jerk my arm away. He didn't let go.

"Don't make a scene, Ever." he scolded. "You wouldn't want it to get out that you kissed a teacher now would you," he whispered in my ear. Frowning, I glared at the sidewalk and let him guide me into the cafe.

"Now where was I," he remarked thoughtfully as we sat down. "We can go out of our territory but it's dangerous, like you apartment is under Jason's control.
