"That's disgusting," I mumbled to myself and swung my leg over the bike. Oliver followed looking around a hard look on his face. He turned to me.

"Things are a bit different here, Ever. Women aren’t treated with respect. They are only for pleasure. The girls you seen are the gang whores, everyone uses them and they enjoy it. Don't stare at anyone, don't make eye contact, but don't put your head down. It shows you’re scared," Oliver warned. I felt my chest get tight.

"And, most of all. Don't leave our side," Jake told me coming to stand next to me.

  "Trust me, I won't."

  Oliver gave a stiff nod.

"Around here we're known for not talking much, so..." Jake started.

"No talking," I finished for him.

"It's for a good reason. They look for a weakness so they can use it," Jet said from the other side of Oliver's bike.

"Jake, Tyler, Jet, you’re with me. Eien, Alex, Logan stay here. Keep a look out for Jason," Oliver ordered. Eien nodded.

Oliver then wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me with him away from the bikes. Jake was close on my left. I kept my eyes straight ahead not looking at anyone. We went up the aisle of cars. A few people here and there gave cat calls at me but the instant Oliver glared at them they shut up. At the very end of the cars and bikes there was a group of people.

"Oliver!" A girl squealed running up to him. I glared at her a moment. Wow...why am I jealous? I shouldn't be jealous. She came up to him and went to kiss him. I froze. He caught her and pushed her away disgusted.

"Roxanne," Oliver growled glaring at her. A bubble of happiness swelled in my throat. He didn't seem to like her. She suddenly noticed me on his arm.

"Who's this bimbo?" She asked glaring at me and putting her hands on her hips. She was wearing a short mini skirt and a tube top, with three inch heels.

"Bimbo?" I stepped toward her. Oliver clamped his arm tight around my waist and wouldn't let me go.

"Oli, who is she? I thought we were together," Roxanne said her eyes filling with fake tears.

"Oli?" I snickered looking up at Oliver. He glared down at me but it wasn't as hard a look as he had gave her.

"I was never together with you," Oliver told her pushing past her. She looked pissed but not at him at me. I rolled my eyes at her.

"How could you choice that over me?" Roxanne howled running back in front of us. She pressed her boobs out toward him. Did she just call me a 'that'?

"Tell her off, Ever. It would better if you did than, Oliver," Jake whispered in my ear. I didn't normally like confrontation but she was drawing attention. Oliver couldn't exactly be mean to her or someone might do something.

"Hunny turn around at start walking," I threatened. Roxanne looked at me shocked.

Roxanne recovered quickly. "I'm not going to listen to you, bitch," she told me throwing her nose in the air. I was getting more annoyed by the minute. This stupid bimbo is about to get her ass kicked.

"I'm only going to tell you once. Get out of the way. Oliver, clearly doesn't like you, so move."

"That's not true, Oli loves me. You’re just some trailer trash he picked up, but I will forgive him," Roxanne smirked at Oliver. Okay, that does it, she's so dead.

Oliver released his grip from my waist as I stepped forward. I snapped my hand back and brought it to her face in one swift move. She hit the ground, her head bouncing off the hard packed dirt. She just lay there in shock. Oliver wrapped his arm around me again and we stepped around her. Looking around we had drawn quite a bit more attention.

"Oli?" I said in a mock whinny voice like hers.

"That's enough, Ever," Oliver told me with a smirk.

"We should start calling you, Oli," Jake snickered.

"No, you shouldn't," Oliver grumbled clearly annoyed by the nickname.

"But, Oli. I like the nick name," I told him in a mocking voice. He leaned down pressing his mouth against the side of my head.

"If you don't stop I'll smack your ass in front of everyone," he purred into my ear. I looked up at him in horror. He just smirked.

"That is unless you want me too," he chuckled his lips still against my ear.

"I most certainly do not," I told him embarrassed. We made it to the group of people. A guy abruptly turned around and almost ran into me. He stopped and looked Oliver and me over.

"Sam," Oliver scowled. I looked the guy over. He had a red cap on sideways and mostly all red clothes.

"Oliver," Sam greeted in disgust. Then he looked me over. "Hey Babe, why you hangin around trash like this. If you want a real man come with me," He smirked pop his head up at me.

"No, thanks. I don't hang around with scum bags."

  Jake snorted and laughed.

Sam frowned. "You’re the bitch from the other night, eh?"

Oliver looked pissed. "Get out my face jackass before I take your head off."

Sam sneered. "Yeah, yeah. Talk all the smack you want. Jason's going to be the one taking your head off."

"And, take this fine piece of ass from you," Sam leaned closer to me and Oliver tensed, Jake stepped forward.

"Even if it's by force," he smirked and chuckled turning he walked away. I was clinging on to Oliver's side. This was a bad idea. I shouldn't have come. Freaking' psychopaths, whores and rapists. Of course I get myself into this crap.

"Oliver!" Another guy greeted. He walked up. Oliver let go of me and clasp his hand giving the guy a man hug.

"I was just wondering where you were. We're about to start. Iron clads first," the guy said shaking his head.

"Noobs," he scoffed. Then he took the time to look over Oliver's shoulder at us.

"And, who is this beautiful lady?"

I opened my mouth to tell him I was just a friend

"This is my girlfriend, Ever," Oliver said putting his arm around my shoulder. I stared at Oliver stunned. He just introduced me as his girlfriend!

"Well, hello, there Ever. That's an interesting name. I'm James," the guy said taking my hand and kissed it. My cheeks went a darker shade of red if that was possible.

"Err...it's nice to meet you, James," I smiled and gave Oliver a quizzical look.

"Well, you’re all marked down in the motor races,"

"Not all of us are racing this time," Oliver told him. James eyes shifted to me.

"Aww...gotcha. I saw the thing with Sam just now."

"Yeah, been having some problems with Jason and his clowns lately. After tonight's fight I'm sure things will change," Oliver smirked.

"Hopefully you crack his skull open. Trust me no one here is rooting for those sleaze bags," James said sourly. Hmm...Jason's really made some serious enemies. What an idiot.

"Well, I got to get things going. Maybe I'll see you later on the track, or at the ring. It was nice meeting you, Ever," James smiled. Oliver and James fist bumped then James left. Oliver spun me around and we headed back to the bikes.

  "Oliver," I started.

"We'll talk about that later, Ever," he muttered pressing his lips to my ear. I shivered.

"Are you whispering sweet nothings into her ear?" Jake laughed. I reached out and hit him across the stomach, my face probably glowing red.

"About time. What took so long?" Alex asked as we walked up.

"We ran into Roxanne," Oliver said disgusted. Alex clicked his tongue and looking like me might throw up.

"Yeah, and Ever, decked her in the face," Jake grinned. Alex looked up at me startled.

"She called me trailer trash," I shrugged.

They looked repulsed. "She is the trailer trash," Oliver scoffed.

"Yeah, and apparently Ever and Oliver are dating," Jake smirked. There were a few startled remarks.

"Speaking of the, Oliver. Why did you tell him that?"

"I told you we'll talk about it later," Oliver told me scowling at Jake.

"There's nothing to talk about. I'm your student, hello," I told him.

"And, you have only know him a week," Jake put in.
r />   "Jake, love ya, but butt out," I told him off handedly.

"You love me," Jake gave me a look of awe.

I groaned. "In a brotherly way."

"So if you love him in a brotherly way, do you love me?" Alex smirked.

"I love all of you okay," I groaned. How could two simple words dig me a hole so deep?

"But, how do you love us? In a brotherly way or otherwise," Oliver asked now smirking looking completely amused. I rolled my eyes and looked up.

"Wow, the clouds sure are pretty aren't they," I said. They laughed rolling their eyes at me. Jake smacked me on the back.

  "Oww...” I smacked him back.

"I think we'll keep you. You’re just so easy to pick on," Jake messed up my hair and I smacked him again.

"Fighting already and the night hasn't even started yet," Alex snickered.

  Chapter Eight

Two cars were getting lined up on a line spray painted in the dirt.

"These first races are normal drag racing," Oliver told me. "Whoever gets down there first wins." He pointed down the line of cars. I glanced down and scene another spray painted line.

  "That sounds easy," I frowned.

"We'll it all depends on how fast the car takes off. If ones slower taking off then they aren’t winning. It's all about the engine power. In this one you can only have a certain car and try to make the engine better than your opponents," Oliver told me.

He looked like a kid in a candy shop watching the cars getting ready to go. One of the cars was silver it looked like metal plates where painted onto the front of it. The other was yellow with a black cobra on the front. Some girl in a sports bra was in the middle of the cars. She jerked her hand down. People erupted into screams and cheers as both cars took off.

Dirt was flying, engines howling. I watched in awe as they flew past the line gaining speed. They blew past us the wind snatched my hair blowing it across my face. I pushed out of my eyes. It was clear who the winner was; the yellow car pulled out ahead of the silver one and crossed the finish line. More cheering sounded around me. My heart soared. It was kind of exciting. As soon as the first two cars cleared out the next two took their place.

"How does it work? The yellow car won so is that he just wins?"

"No," Oliver shook his head. "See he won the next spot. Twelve cars race. There will be six winners from that, then there will be three and the last three winners will race for the first spot. The twelve chip in a bit of money at the start. Whoever wins in the end gets it all. The amounts usually about 30,000."

  "Dollars?" I asked bewildered.

  Oliver chuckled. "Yes, dollars."

"That's a lot of money," I muttered. Dang, with 30,000 I could pay for my whole college and apartment.

"That's why I said earlier I don't mind if I lose my job. I can still support myself, clearly," he smirked.

"Then why do you teach?" I asked him curiously.

"It's a long story. I'll tell you later," Oliver told me.

  "You want to sit down?"

I nodded. I didn't like standing for long. He moved and helped me on his bike. I leaned over resting on it and watched the few races. They went by quickly and I was so excited. I was even cheering as well.

"It's the last race to determine the winner. Who do you thinks going to win this time?” Jake asked me.

"The orange one. The bluish purple is to slow," I told him leaning on the bike watching intently as the sports bra girl dropped the flag, she had magically found somewhere. The cars took off. I was right the orange one was in the lead.

"Yeah!" I yelled and jumped up and down. Suddenly the bluish purple cars wheel exploded and the car veered off the road. Good thing it had passed the line of cars. The car hit a dirt hill and went nose up into the sky. Flipping a few times it came to a gut wrenching stop.

The arena was dead silent. The gang that owned the car bolted out to the mangled wreck. I held my breath watching. The seconds felt like hours as I watched them trying to pry the car door off. Finally they got it off and the driver popped out unharmed. The crowd roared in applause.

"Damn," Jake breathed. "That has got to suck."

"At least he didn't get killed then we'd have to stop the whole thing," Alex muttered. I looked back at him. How could he be so heartless?

Alex looked at me. "Sorry, I didn't mean it like that," he apologized.

"So Ever," Oliver started. I looked up at him. He was leaning on the bike next to me.

"Are you going to be riding with me in the race?" He smirked.

  "What?" I asked shocked.

"Well, the next races are about to start and you’re on my bike," he grinned.

"Then tell me to get off," I rolled my eyes at him and jumped off the bike. There was no way I was going to ride with him in the race. His driving here scared me I couldn't imagine going faster than that especially with other racers close by.

"Are you going to give him a kiss for good luck? It might be his last race ever. He might not be as lucky as that guy was," Jake mused. I glared at him, but my stomach clinched. What if Oliver did wreck?

I looked up at Oliver my cheeks burning red. Glancing back at the other guys they looked away but I could tell they were grinning. I reached up and gave Oliver a quick peck on the cheek. He smirked grabbing my face before I could pull away and kissed my lips.

"Get a room," Logan told us in disgust.

"Come back in one piece," I muttered to Oliver looking at my feet.

"I will," he promised. With that he hopped onto his bike. Along with Jet, Alex and Eien.

Oliver looked over at Jake. Jake came closer to him and they talked quietly. Jake looked over at me and nodded to Oliver. I wonder what Oliver had told him? It was clearly about me.

Jake clapped Oliver on the back and the four boys headed off up the track to the starting line. The race went by quickly. I hide my face in my hands the whole time to afraid to watch. Oliver won and did a wheelie on his way back to collect his money. Has he rode past where we were standing he winked at me. I rolled my eyes he's so cocky.

The fighting arena looked like a steel cage. There were make shift bleachers on the two sides. Some people resorted to jumping up on the side of it and hanging over. I was utterly appalled at watching the men in the ring beat each other’s faces in.

I was even more grossed out when two girls got in the cage and started wrestling. The men cheered as one girl ripped the others shirt off. She didn't even try to cover herself up, which made me want to throw up.

The only guys fighting tonight were Jet, Alex and Oliver. Oliver had his arm wrapped tight around me as the crowd booed or cheered. A few times someone got shoved into me but instantly backed off when they took one look at Oliver and also Jake who was close behind me. When Jet went up I felt like rocks in the bottom of my stomach. I honestly didn't want to see him get hurt.

Jet came into the ring and did a sideways flip gaining lots of cheers. His opponent came in and started doing flips as fell. He flipped and turned in circles around Jet. Jet's eyes never let the guy. In one leap the man launched at Jet. Pushing off the side of the cage Jet send a flying punch into his face and it was over. I clapped and cheered along with everyone else. The opponent had yet to get off the ground when Jet exited the cage with a handful of money.

Alex's match wasn't so quick. His opponent was two sizes big then him. Compared to his opponent Alex looked short and lanky. For the first few minutes of the fight Alex became a rag doll. I jumped back against Oliver in freight as Alex was lifted and slung into the cage directly in front of me.

Oliver knelt down to talk to Alex. Alex's lip was bleeding and he looked out of it but he nodded. The big giant of a man had his back to Alex and was trying to get people to cheer louder.

In a split second Alex jumped up as if he wasn't hurt at all and slammed into the man from behind taking his legs out from under him. Alex rolled out of the way as the large man tried to grab for him, however now on his back he could hardly move or ev
en seem to get up.

He rolled on his side trying to get up off the ground and Alex shoved the heel of his boot into the man’s face. I cringed as I heard a crunch. Alex won and his opponent lost...a few teeth.

Anxiousness twisted in my stomach as it was the final match of the night and Oliver was going up against Jason. I glanced up at Oliver worried. His face was hard and drawn as he stared across the ring at Jason, who stared back with the same intensity.

"Oliver," I muttered uncertain. Oliver jerked his eyes away from Jason to look down at me.

"Be careful, please?" I whispered softly gazing into his eyes. I was a bit lost in his stare.

He gave a wry smile. "Don't tell me you’re worried, Ever," he chuckled teasing me.

I pursed my lips. "Well, I'd rather not like to see any more blood. It makes me queasy," I told him crossing my arms and looking away embarrassed. I was worried that he might get hurt, but I wasn't about to tell him that. Jerk. Oliver reached up taking my face and making me look at him. Looking back up into his eyes I was mesmerized.

"Thank you for worrying about me but I'll be okay," he said kissing my nose softly and turned abruptly and entered the cage. The door was locked with chains, causing my stomach to flip. Jason jumped over the rail with a look of amusement on his face. Oliver moved to the right and Jason to the left. They circled each other till Jason was in front of me now. Jason half turned to wink at me. Jake was standing next to placed his hand on my shoulder glaring at Jason.

"When I beat your boyfriend, I'll be back over here to take you home with me," he sneered.

Oliver was closing the gap between them taking Jason's off guard moment to his advantage.

"No, you won't be," I told him matter-of-factly, just as Oliver lunged.

Jason snapped his head up and dodged just in time. Oliver's fist just barely grazing Jason's cheek. Jason stumbled a little but recovered and stepped toward Oliver sending a violent punch at his head. Oliver of course dodged and snatched Jason's arm kicking his legs out from under him. Jason went down but didn't stay down for long.

He rolled out of the way as Oliver went to kick him. Jason was back on his feet and swung at Oliver missing his target. Oliver grabbed his hand and then the back of Jason's head bringing his knee up and got Jason in the face. I pressed my hands to my mouth watching with worry.
